Relaxation Generation

We were commissioned to create a music space, 'Relaxation Generation', for the relaxation soft drink 'Marley's Mellow Mood'. We launched this with a mini festival at Brick Lane's Vibe Bar on the 19th of August. With live music resonating across three stages. The musical content represented the spirit of Bob Marley in 2012, rather than emulating him we chose artists whose musical influence can be traced back, often by some degrees of separation, to the music of Marley and his contemporaries. Including:

ZincInternationally Renowned producer and Dj, he is the king of British Bass Music. Originally a Drum & Bass pioneer, he went on to create his own genre of bass heavy house music, combining different styles. This has gone on to influence and change the face of the new generation of popular British electronic music. It was great to see tracks like 'Wile out' tearing up the indoor 'Stir it Up' Stage.

Roni Size: The Godfather of Drum & Bass, and a pioneer of the Bristol sound. He won a Mercury Prize in 1997, and planted a seed that spawned a new generation of music. It was amazing to have him team up with Reprazent partner Dynamite Mc for us. Hearing them drop the classic 'Brown paper Bag' was a sure highlight.

Gappy Ranks: Uk based internationally acclaimed dancehall reggae star. Championed by Radio 1, and loved by the underground, this man is at top of his game and set for further stardom.

Natty: This rapidly rising Reggae star embodies the idea of ‘Mellow Mood’ perfectly, and musically speaking is very close to Bob Marley.

Elisabeth Troy: A brilliant performer, who has sung on countless well-known hits. She made the crowd fall in love with her, and really got the party spirit going.

Seani B: BBC Radio 1 Extra’s Seani B is the UK’s premier Afro Caribbean premier Radio DJ. He knows how engage the crowd, with a fine selection of well know Jamaican hits, perfect for dancing in the sun.

They drew quite a crowd!!

Which some of performers on the outdoor 'Mellow Mood Stage' Couldn't resist being part of....

Basement Jaxx singer Vula Malinga set the crowd alight when she opened with the huge club hit 'Red Alert', but things really got going when she joined the crowd. Singing the very funky 'Oh My Gosh' with members of the crowd, and her performance culminating in the Mellow Mood Tent.

Liam Bailey was also tempted by the allure of the crowd. Watched on by Sam Garrett, enjoying the vibes after his soulful set.

We also had some royalty turn up, with Julian Marley keeping Reality Shock Records head Honcho and genius producer Kris Kemist company.

Of course the build up was fun as well, with great mixes to get people the spirit by NICE UP's Dj Shepdog, and legendary Uk Hip Hop producer Daddy Skitz.
